AIR FIELD NOTES

JANUARY 11, 2000

This is a re-make of the classic Interstate 76 map, Air Base. That map is one of the best made. After reading on the many boards how people wanted  Air Base for Interstate 82, I decided to give it a shot.

This is about as close as I could come to it with the limitations of the Terraformer. These are:

Roads: Unlike the I76 editor, it is very hard to get roads to line up properly. They do not "snap" together, so it is very hard to get tight, twisty roads. Also they have a very bad habit of "snaping" to the nearest object. I.E. if you try to make a very short road from an intersection, the other end will jump to it.So I had to make the short roads a bit longer, or omit the "ends", paved road turning to dirt......

Jumps: Had to use the large wooden jumps instead of the small ones. Reason: you just can't jump as far in I82 as you could in I76. :( But it works well, and will not notice the difference.

Buildings: Where the hangers are, I placed a small concrete building that you can go into instead of that old house. Gas Station area, well, with I82, there are no Gas 4 Cash, Sincere, Spanners, Gas Parades. Also used Mondos as there is no Doughtnut Shop, as well as Wagon Wheel, Fried Chicken, Ice Cream. <sigh>

REGENS: The one outside of the air field up on the hill is still there. HOWEVER: the one by the hanger is now inside a hanger. Further, there is a chain link fence in front of both openings. You have to go on foot to use it.
Why? In the original Air Base, that open REGEN caused way to many lamers to make a run for it with little to no damage on their cars. Thus cheating a person of a kill. 'Sides, it'll be more challenging this way!!!

Other than that, I and others that tested it found it to be a blast!

Enjoy!

Thanks to R66 Uncle Jessie for his input! And to -HF- Bandit for help in battle testing it!
